PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS FOR ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION PROBLEMS AT SARABURI WITTAYAKHOM SCHOOL

Abstract

This research aims to 1) investigate problems of academic management of Saraburiwitthayakhom school, 2 ) compare the perceptions of teachers in Saraburiwitthayakhom school towards academic management issues according to their gender and work experience, and 3) suggest the solutions to academic management problems of Saraburiwitthayakhom school. This exploratory research made use of the Ministry of Education's framework for academic administration. The study’s sample was 140 teachers of the semester B.E. 2565 of Saraburiwitthayakhom school under the secondary educational service area office in Saraburi. The implemented data collecting tools were questionnaire and interview, whereas the integrated data analysis methods were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA.            The findings implied that 1) teachers of Saraburiwitthayakhom school under the secondary educational service area office in Saraburi perceived overall of academic management problems at the lowest level. As considering each variable, the academic management problem with highest mean score was ‘educational technology development and integration’. On the other hands, the variables with the lowest mean scores were ‘academic planning’ and ‘academic guidance’. 2) The teachers of Saraburiwitthayakhom school under the secondary educational service area office in Saraburi with different age and work experience perceived the overall and each variable of academic management problems of Saraburiwitthayakhom school differently at non-significant level of .05. Furthermore, 3) regarding the solutions to solve academic management problems of Saraburiwitthayakhom school in terms of educational technology development and integration, it was recommended that the teachers should be encouraged to create learning media and innovation by organizing training and study visits for them. For researching to improve the quality of education problems, it was suggested to train and encourage teachers to do the research in their classrooms in order to improve students from the actual issues. This also included holding competitions towards innovation development and arranging sufficient budgets to improve the quality of education to strengthen morale and motivate teachers to work. In the aspect of providing opinions on curriculum development, it was advised to motivate the cooperation of local community in terms of giving opinions towards the curriculum development to be related to the local contexts, needs and wisdom, so that it could be systematically integrated into information and knowledge gathering of schools and society.
