BAN NAM MAN SCHOOL CURRICULUM: RITUALS AND BELIFES OF THE PHAYA KAEW WONG MUANG BATHING TRADITION IN NAM MAN SUBDISTRICT, THA PLA DISTRICT, UTTARADIT PROVINCE, FOR CULTURAL LEANING TRANSMISSION

Abstract

The primary objectives of this research are 1) to collect knowledge about the rituals and beliefs of the Phaya Kaew Wong Muang Bathing Tradition, 2) to develop the school curriculum for Ban Nam Man School, and 3) to study the students' satisfaction with this curriculum.The research findings revealed that the collected knowledge about the rituals and beliefs Phaya Kaew Wong Muang Bathing Tradition encompasses two main topics: 1) The history of Phaya Kaew Wong Muang, and 2) The rituals and beliefs associated with the Phaya Kaew Wong Muang Bathing Tradition. The developed curriculum includes the principles, objectives, learning standards, expected learning outcomes, curriculum structure, content, learning time, learning activity guidelines, learning materials, assessment and evaluation methods, and four lesson plans with the following content: 1) Phaya Kaew Wong Muang, 2) Creating community identity through rituals and beliefs, 3) Worship items for Phaya Kaew Wong Muang, and 4) Oral literature for preserving local wisdom and traditions. The curriculum spans 16 hours of learning time, conducted by local wisdom experts and teachers. During the curriculum trial, students showed interest and enthusiasm in their learning. The evaluation and improvement of the curriculum revealed significant differences in students' pre- and post-curriculum learning outcomes at the .05 significance level. Additionally, student satisfaction with the Ban Nam Man School curriculum was at the highest level.
