SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY LEADERS IN TRANSFERRING KNOWLEDGE ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS TO THE PEOPLE

Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop the skills of community leaders in the transfer of knowledge on environmental law to the people. The samples were 320 community leaders including village headmen, sub-district headmen and members of sub-district administrative organizations councils in the four northeastern provinces in the southern part of the region namely Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiyaphum, Surin and Buriram with the sample of 80 people from each province. The number of 160 representatives of people were purposively selected from four districts of the four provinces with the number of 40 people from each district. The research tools included: the set of Knowledge on Environmental Laws for Community Leaders; an assessment test of 10 items with choices; and recommendations and other needs. In gathering quantitative information, data were analyzed through computer program and the statistics used were percentage and mean. The results of this research were as follows. The skill development of community leaders in transferring knowledge on environmental law to the public, it was found that the number of 12 community leaders transferred the knowledge by training the people once in each province with the length of 3 days each. The set of training on environmental law was used as media of the transfer. The result of assessment was found that, after the knowledge transfer, the people had the knowledge at the highest level (73.75 percent).
