CHARACTERS OF CARITA AS A SCIENCE IN BUDDHISM

Abstract

This article aims to present the characteristics of people with their Carita (temperament) as the science of Buddhism. The aspects to present consist of: 1) the meaning of Carita; 2) the types of Carita including: lustful temperament (Raga-carita); hateful temperament (Dosa-carita); deluded temperament (Moha-carita); faithful temperament (Saddha-carita); intelligent temperament (Buddhi-carita); and speculative temperament (Vitakka-carita). The characteristics of people with their Carita include both strengths and weaknesses and the approach in tackling the drawbacks of the 6 characteristics.
