PRODUCTION OF ANIMATION MEDIA ON THE WOD MUSICAL INSTRUMENT USING THE STORYLINE TEACHING METHOD BASED ON THE TRANSMISSION TECHNIQUES OF KHRU SONGSAK PRATHUMSILP (NATIONAL ARTIST)

Abstract

This research aims to study and document the body of knowledge and instructional techniques for teaching the Wod musical instrument as developed by Khru Songsak Prathumsilp, a National Artist. It focuses on producing an animated instructional media for teaching the Wod and integrating this media into the basic education music curriculum. The research was conducted in the area of Khru Songsak Prathumsilp’s residence, located in Nong Phok District, Roi Et Province, Thailand. The sample group consisted of three network schools affiliated with the Faculty of Education and Human Development, Roi Et Rajabhat University, specifically selected as they lacked permanent teachers specialized in traditional Isan folk music. This study employed qualitative research methodology, utilizing field surveys, participatory observation, focus group discussions, workshops, and document analysis to collect data. The findings revealed that Khru Songsak’s teaching emphasizes the transmission of knowledge through direct experience, practical techniques, and imitation. The use of animation as an instructional medium effectively facilitates learners' understanding of the Wod learning process and fosters greater interest in Isan folk music among young people. Furthermore, the animated media serves as an effective teaching tool in classroom settings, enhancing teaching efficiency. The experimental use of the animated media with the sample group indicated that students demonstrated better understanding of the content and improved Wod -playing skills compared to conventional teaching methods. Additionally, the students exhibited increased interest in Isan folk music. The development of the animated instructional media in this research thus presents a significant approach to preserving and disseminating knowledge related to the Wod musical instrument in the digital era, while providing a systematic model for integrating traditional Isan music education into the basic education curriculum.
