A Study of Situations and Impacts of Road Accidents: A Case Study of the Death Cases in Pa Bon District, Phatthalung Province

Abstract

The purpose of descriptive study were to study the situations and impacts of road accidents : a case death accident study in Pa Bon District, Phatthalung Province. The data were collected by questionnaire of case series report accident case and descriptive statistics by interviews sample group 30 samples. The quantitative data were analyzed by namely numbers and percentages. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed by content analysis. The result showed that in 2020 - 2022, there were 30 deaths. The most of them were male (70.0%), 31 - 45 years old (33.3%) and on motorcycle (53.3%). The peak time of accident was 4:31 p.m. - 0:30 a.m. (46.7%). Normally road accident victims were a driver (83.3%). The road with the most accidents is the main road (60.0%), car crashes were found with the highest rate of accidents (56.7%). Most of the accidents were caused by people (76.7%). That most casualties were not wearing safety helmets (87.5%). Road accident prevention and control operations operates under the Board of Directors performance according to 5 pillars of road safety measures, Comprehensive coverage pillar 1 and 5 not comprehensive in pillar 2, 3, and 4 As for the impacts of accidents, road accidents cause physical, psychological, social, and economic effects. Cooperation integration to determine the duties according to the 5 pillar measures, establish a road safety center in the area. Return information to the public to raise awareness and recognize the impact of accidents to the public to solve sustainable problems.
