Effects of Pharmaceutical Care Combined with Remote Counseling Telepharmacy by Applying Mohpromt Station Application in Type 2 Diabetic Patients Using Insulin Pen, Seka District, Bueng Kan Province

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of pharmaceutical care combined with remote counseling telepharmacy by Applying the Mohpromt Station Application on clinical outcomes, knowledge, Insulin pen skill, drug-related problems and satisfaction of patients toward the service. The sample consisted of 40 type 2 diabetic patients who use insulin pens and receive treatment at the outpatient department of the internal medicine clinic at Seka Hospital, Bueng Kan Province. The sample was selected by purposive sampling of patients who demonstrated inadequate glycemic control for two consecutive measurements and met the inclusion criteria based on other relevant characteristics. Telepharmacy services were provided from February 1 to May 31, 2023. Data were collected through questionnaires and record forms. Statistical analysis of quantitative data was performed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results indicate that after receiving telepharmacy and medication follow-up, the average fasting plasma glucose level of the sample group decreased significantly from 217.75±66.34 mg/dl to 171.10±50.10 mg/dl. Similarly, the average Hemoglobin A1C level decreased significantly from 10.50±1.53 mg% to 8.40±1.52 mg%. Furthermore, this telepharmacy service significantly improves knowledge about diabetes and its treatment, enhances Insulin pen skill, and fosters greater medication adherence among diabetic patients. Pharmacists are also able to identify and resolve medication-related problems for patients. Overall, the patients who received this service reported a high level of satisfaction. Pharmacists should learn new technologies and innovations to apply them in patient care, in order to improve the effectiveness of treatment.
