Hermeneutics and Application in Thai Society

Abstract
This article aims to present a basic understanding of the science of interpretation. Hermeneutics is both a philosophy and a methodology that is important in understanding life, society, the world, past and present. Moreover, it is a basis for determining the future with a vision based on reality. The science of interpretation is very important for humanities and social sciences research. As a matter of fact, such research, not only asks for an answer to “what”, but also “why” and “how.” To answer these questions, the process of interpretation can give information that is deeper than the surface. In general, the weakness of research in Thailand is the lack of a conceptual framework, which is caused by a lack of solid philosophical thinking. Research methodology, therefore, is improper.
