Discovery Learning-Based Instruction to Enhance Analytical Thinking of Thai Major Students

Abstract

This research aims to: 1. study the analytical thinking ability of Thai language major students after going through the learning employing the discovery learning theory; 2. compare the students’ analytical thinking ability after the learning with the criterion of 70%; and 3. examine the students’ satisfaction with the learning. This study employed a pre-experimental design conducted with 50 second-year Thai language major students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Thepsatri Rajabhat University, during the second semester of the academic year 2024. The research instruments included lesson plans, an analytical thinking ability assessment form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and one-sample t-test.

            The research findings revealed that: 1. the analytical thinking ability of the students after learning by using the discovery learning theory was at a good level; 2. the students’ analytical thinking ability after the learning was higher than the 70% criterion, and 3. the students’ overall satisfaction toward the learning using the discovery learning theory was at the highest level.
