The Analysis of Parika’s Pregnancy in Suwannasamajataka

Abstract

This article aims at finding out problems regarding the possibility of Parika, mother of Suwanasama baby, getting conceived by her husband, Tukul Hermit, stroking her stomach according to the divine command.  From the study, it was found that considering from the Yoni 4 or four kinds of birth, this case was not classified under the first three kinds namely: egg-born creatures, womb-born creatures and moisture-born creatures. However, it was possible that he was born under the last kind namely spontaneously born creatures which was supported by two scenarios.  The first one was the Bodhisattva of Suwanasama baby and the evidence in the first section of Samantapasadika describing the 7 causes that a woman can get conceived and the debate of King Milin which explains misbehavior characteristics such as different behavior of sexual intercourse between man and woman.
