Fire Prevention and Suppression Management in Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station Area

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) describe the situation of fire prevention and suppression management in the Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station area, (2) identify problems in fire prevention and suppression management in the Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station area, and (3) propose guidelines for fire prevention and suppression management in the Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station area. Data was collected from 10 key informants, including Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station staff, civil defense volunteers, and community leaders, using qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews and observation. Data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The research results included: (1) the principles under which fire prevention and suppression management in the Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station area is implemented, based on the Bangkok Governor's "9 Aspects, 9 Good" policy aimed at metropolitan safety; (2) key problems, including a lack of cooperation and participation from the public and communities in fire prevention activities such as training, emergency response drills, and community planning; and (3) guidelines for fire prevention and suppression management in the Bang Khae Fire and Rescue Station area should focus on integrated development. Emphasis is placed on proactive prevention and community empowerment, coupled with capacity building for government agencies.
