Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to evaluate the level of public participation in local development of Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization 2) to analysis the problems of public participation in local development of Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization and 3) to propose guidelines for developing public participation in local development of Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization.

This research was mixed methods research, , integrating both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. In the quantitative research component, the sample consists of 373 residents residing within the jurisdiction of Khung Krathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mueang Ratchaburi District, Ratchaburi Province. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

For the qualitative research component, key informants were divided into two groups: (1) government officials, comprising five civil servants and personnel, and (2) members of the local community within Khungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization, totaling five individuals. a total of 10 people. Data were analyzed by content analysis.

The results were as follow; 1) the public participation in local development of Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization was at a high level and the participation in receiving benefits have the highest average. 2) the problems of public participation in local development of Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization for mostly people rarely have time to attend the meeting, people still do not receive public benefit services from Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization, most people are lack of knowledge and understanding about monitoring and evaluation. 3) the guidelines for developing public participation in local development of Kungkrathin Subdistrict Administrative Organization are to develop public relations to be more effective, survey the areas where the people in trouble have suffered and make concrete corrections in all areas of the sub-district, should give importance and appoint representatives of people in the community to join the committee.
