USING DHAMMA PRINCIPLES TO ENHANCE ENGLISH COMMUNICATION SKILLS: TEACHING ENGLISH THROUGH THE LENS OF BUDDHIST TEACHING METHODS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to explore the application of Buddhist Dhamma principles to enhance English communication skills, particularly in speaking and listening, which are often challenging areas for learners to develop. It also focuses on incorporating the perspective of Buddhist teaching methods into English language instruction to simultaneously foster linguistic skills and the personal development of learners. The approach emphasizes key Dhamma principles such as mindfulness (Sati), patience (Khanti), and wisdom (Paññā), which help improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and build confidence in communication. Practicing in a calm and friendly environment, aligned with Buddhist teaching methods, enables learners to gain confidence in using English and enhances their communication skills more effectively.
