ROLES AND PARTICIPATION OF VILLAGE HEALTH VOLUNTEERS THE COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION EVENT, NA FAI SUBDISTRICT MUANG DISTRICT, CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows:1) to study the participation of village public health volunteers; 2) to study the factors influencing the participation of village public health volunteers; and 3) to study guidelines for the development of the village public health volunteers in the community health promotion work, Na Fai Subdistrict, Muang District, Chaiyaphum Province. It was a mixed methods of quantitative and qualitative research by using a five rating scales questionnaire with statistical confidence value at 0.80. The sample group of this research included the people who had the legal rights to vote in Na Fai Subdistrict. The sample group size of 386 people was calculated through Taro Yamane. The qualitative research was done through in-depth interviews with 10 key informants including village administrative officers, experts and related persons dealing with the guidelines of participatory development of the village public health volunteers. The tools used in this research were a questionnaire and interview formats. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency and percentage including multiple regression analysis by selecting the sequential variables and description. Findings of this research were as the followings. The overall 3 dependent variables in participatory roles of  village public health volunteers in the community health promotion work, Na Fai Subdistrict, Muang  District, Chaiyaphum Province were at a moderate level ( =3.08) and they could be chronologically arranged from the highest to the lowest aspect as follows: participation in health promotion policy assessment ( =3.10); participation in health promotion policy making ( =3.08); and participation in operating health promotion policy ( =3.00). Regarding the overall weighted value of dependent variables influencing the participation of village public health volunteers in the community health promotion work, Na Fai Subdistrict, Muang  District, Chaiyaphum Province, it was found that the participation in sharing benefit, participation in decision-making, and participation in health promotion for the elderly were statistically significant at 0.05 level.
