APPLICATION OF THE ENGLISH LEARNING PLATFORM FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES OF SAINGAM COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE GROUP CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to apply the English learning platform for specific purposes of Saingam Community Enterprise Group Chaiyaphum Province, to investigate skills of using English for communication of members of Saingam Community Enterprise Group, and to examine learning behaviors in learning English for communication of members of Saingam Community Enterprise Group after learning via English learning platform. The target group consisted of fifteen people who were Saingam Community Enterprise Group Chaiyaphum Province. There were assigned to be the target group by Snowball sampling. The research instrument composted of focus group, observation, and unstructured interview. The qualitative data from those instruments were interpreted by content analysis technique with pseudonym of the target group. The findings were as follows:  1. The finding of applying the English learning platform for specific purposes of Saingam Community Enterprise Group Chaiyaphum Province found that most of the target group were able to communicate in English at the basic sentence level after learning through the platform. 2. The finding of skills using in English for communication revealed that the target group reflected from the focus group activity that their first priority skill was English vocabulary recognition. They were most concerned about in developing their language skills. Second, pronunciation skill was focused. The last skill was lacking of English grammar rules. These skills were results in anxiety and lost self-confidence in communication respectively. 3. The examining of learning behaviors in using in English for communication revealed the overall of the target group was active and enthusiastic to improve their English communication skills. However, some of them were reluctant to express themselves in speaking English. They were shy, anxious, and unsure about speaking English words, phrases, or sentences which were caused by an inability to remember the meaning of English words.
