Abstract

The purpose of this study were to study and develop the models for selecting the traveling patterns of students from the origin to Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University and to study the factors that affected to their traveling, including applying it to find the cost and time of teaveling from residential areas (origin) to the (destination) areas where Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University is located. In this study, it was considered to choose the students’ residential areas within Mueang District of Nakhon Sawan Province to the university (the areas in the city) and to the educational area of Yan Mudsi Campus within the distance of 1 to 30 kilometers by using the technique of reveal preference (RP). The tool of this study was the questionnaire asking about the alternative decisions of the individual based on the theory of utility. The survey results would be used to develop a binary logic model in order to predict the alternative traveling which would happen in the future between personal vehicles and public vehicles with the sampling of 400 students from Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University (NSRU)


The results of this study revealed that the cost variable or the cost of traveling expenditures, time of traveling variable and a period of time used in traveling, it appeared that all above affected to the traveling models significantly. The accurate percentage of predicting on public vehicles was 79% which was the highest possibility of the students to select the public vehicles in traveling. It also found that the waiting time for public vehicles was 10-15 minutes and it cost them to pay for the public vehicles 20-25 baht. The accurate percentage of predicting on personal vehicles was 63.6% towards the opportunity in selecting the alternative traveling by public vehicles of the students from NSRU
