Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) gather historical knowledge to promote hybrid tourism experiences grounded in patriotic consciousness, and 2) develop media for presenting such knowledge. A qualitative research approach was employed. A total of 35 key informants were selected through purposive sampling, including personnel involved in the historical area of Wing 5, media experts, tourists, and local business operators in the Ao Manao area. Data was collected through documentary research, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions, and analyzed using content analysis.
The findings revealed that the area-based historical knowledge could be synthesized into one main theme, namely local attachment, with three sub-themes: courage, sacrifice, and hope. These themes were further developed into a historical knowledge set entitled “Local Attachment: Wing 5”, presented in the form of an electronic book to enhance meaningful tourism experiences. In addition, the study resulted in the development of an innovative interactive media format, Tourism Story Visualization, delivered through digital platforms. Furthermore, two process-based tools were generated during the research, namely Tourism Story Creation Journey and Tourism Media Innovation Canvas, which serve as conceptual frameworks for designing heritage tourism media that connect hybrid tourism experiences with patriotic consciousness and can be applied to other tourism destinations.
