The Integration of Social Engagement Based on The Principles of Saraniya Dhamma: Lessons from The Study of Phonang Dam Tok Subdistrict, Sapphaya District, Chainat Province

Abstract

The article titled " The Integration of Social Engagement with Participation Based on The Principles of Saraniya Dhamma: Lessons from The Study of Phonang Dam Tok Subdistrict, Sapphaya District, Chainat Province" aims to study and analyze approaches for integrating social engagement that can enhance community participation according to the principles of Saraniya Dhamma, which promote relationships and interdependence within local communities. This is a document-based study, knowledge management, and lesson extraction from the case study of Phonang Dam Tok Subdistrict, Sapphaya District, Chainat Province. The analytical concepts include the 5 steps of participation: awareness, selection and proposal of approaches, decision-making, monitoring and evaluation, and benefits from public policies. The key concepts of Saraniya Dhamma include Metta through body, speech, and mind, public welfare, common virtue, and shared vision. The content analysis was synthesized, verified with triangulation techniques, and presented descriptively. The study results indicate that: 1. The integration to enhance the capacity of social engagement according to Saraniya Dhamma includes: 1.1 Identifying issues and needs; and 1.2 Planning and implementing various projects that align with the quality-of-life development of the community. 2. Related factors that need to be considered are: 2.1 Business and social dimensions must create sufficient and appropriate income and profits; 2.2 Activities should generate positive impacts on society and the environment. The findings reflect that the integration of social engagement based on the principles of Saraniya Dhamma promotes better community development, as community members feel ownership of activities and become aware of their roles in social development.
