Abstract

This article aims to study the Buddhist way of using language to communicate in Buddhism. It was found that the Lord Buddha used two types of language to communicate or propagate Buddhism: (1) The formal use of language is the language used by Brahmins in those days. But He will give new meaning, by focusing on the meaning of truth according to the rules of dharma, such as the word Ariya, the original meaning is child of Brahma which means pure, noble. Other castes below him which is classified as a meaning that has a base of passion or delusion The new meaning is the truth of life. Sublime because it is free from all suffering not because it was innately destined to be sublime, according to Brahman's understanding; (2) The use of content-oriented language It is a language that changes according to context. It mainly depends on the speaker how to communicate appropriately to the situation “I stopped from doing evil, but you haven't stopped Still thinking about killing again”. The charm of this type of language is that it makes the listener wonder, interpret and communicate before getting the correct answer according to the meaning of the media person.
