Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research article were to (1) identify the components and indicators of teachers’ competencies in active learning management in schools and (2) assess the priority needs for enhancing such competencies. Using a survey research design, the study was conducted in schools under the Nakhon Ratchasima Primary Educational Service Area Office 4. The sample comprised 26 school administrators, 14 educational supervisors, and 282 teachers, for a total of 322 respondents. The research instrument was a five-point rating-scale questionnaire whose content validity was verified by five experts using the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC). All items yielded IOC values of 1.00. The reliability coefficients were .889 for the current-condition scale and .874 for the desirable-condition scale. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and the modified Priority Needs Index (PNI_modified). The findings indicated that teachers’ competencies in active learning management comprised five components and 25 indicators: (1) knowledge development in active learning management, (2) practical training in instructional activity design, (3) the use of professional learning communities (PLCs), (4) scaffolding, and (5) continuous reflection and evaluation. Overall, the current condition was at a moderate level, whereas the desirable condition was at the highest level. When ranked by PNI_modified from highest to lowest, the priority needs were: (1) practical training in instructional activity design, (2) continuous reflection and evaluation, (3) scaffolding, (4) the use of professional learning communities, and (5) knowledge development in active learning management.
