Cultural Capital Management for Enhancing Lao Wiang Community Enterprises and Developing Local Products in U Thong District, Suphan Buri Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this research were: 1) to investigate the socio-economic context and cultural capital; 2) to analyze the potential and challenges within supply chain management; 3) to develop an integrated model for cultural capital and supply chain management tailored to the community context; and 4) to propose innovative strategic guidelines for product development and digital marketing. A mixed-methods research design was employed. The quantitative phase involved a survey of 400 community enterprise members in U Thong District, Suphan Buri Province, with causal relationships analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The qualitative phase incorporated in-depth interviews with 20 experts and stakeholders, complemented by SWOT analysis and brainstorming sessions to synthesize sustainable development frameworks. The findings revealed that: 1) regarding cultural capital, the community leverages kinship-based social systems to foster trust in management, with "Lao-Wiang Tin-Jok" weaving specifically the Naga and Pikul patterns serving as a unique, high-differentiation identity; 2) concerning potential and challenges, while possessing robust traditional wisdom, the enterprises face downstream bottlenecks, particularly in digital marketing literacy, storytelling techniques, and modern inventory management systems; 3) the proposed management model comprises four stages: (1) Upstream: eco-cultural capital management; (2) Midstream: innovation-driven value addition; (3) Downstream: global digital market penetration; and (4) Goal: sustainability through market mechanisms and supply chain optimization; 4) the innovative strategies, under the concept of "Market-Led, Production-Driven, Culture-Valued," involve four pillars: Omni-channel integration, transitioning traditional crafts into lifestyle products, accentuating cultural identity, and professionalizing organizational standards to ensure long-term sustainability.
