THE ROLE OF LOCAL ADMINISTRATORS EFFECTING TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA OF NAPHO SUBDISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, THUNG SONG DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

        The objectives of this research were to 1) study the community development in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, 2) study roles of local administrators in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, and 3) study the relationship of
roles of local administrators and the community development in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. This study was a quantitative research with the population of people who lived in 5 villages, 6,326 persons in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat
province. The sample size was obtained by Taro Yamane’s formula. The sample were 376 respondents and were selected by accidental sampling. The tool for data collecting was a questionnaire by surveying. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient.
        The research findings were as follows:
        1. The personal data of the respondents revealed that the most were males 225 persons  or 59.8 %, followed by females 151 persons or 40.2 %, age between 26-40 years old 148 persons or 39.4 %, education level for bachelor degree 190 persons or 50.5 %, personnel or employees of private sector 86 persons or 22.9 %, income between 15,001-25,000 baht 150 persons or 39.9 %.
        2. The level of community development in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, were, overall and all aspects at a high level. Considering each aspect individually revealed that the highest mean of aspect was infrastructure, followed by public empowerment, society and culture, and health and environment,
respectively.
        3. The level of local administrators’ roles in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, were, overall at a high level. Considering each aspect individually revealed that the highest mean was the aspect of custom at a highest level, followed by 4 aspects were at a high level such as the promotion of public participation, program or project proposal to be helped, leadership in the community development, and community problem solving, respectively.
        4. The relationship of local administrators’ roles and the community development in the area of Napho Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Thung Song district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, were, overall had a very high correlation (rxy = .992**) at a statistical significance level of .01. Ranking from the high to low of roles was the aspect of leadership in the community development, followed by community problem solving, program or project proposal to be helped, and custom, respectively. While ranking the level of relationship of community development was health and environment, public empowerment, society and culture, and infrastructure.
