Abstract

This research aimed to study the level of demand for pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) program (new curriculum), B.E. ..., at Mahamakut Buddhist University, Roi Et Campus. The study also sought to analyze factors influencing the decision-making process among the target group and to propose guidelines for curriculum development in alignment with the local context of northeastern Thailand. A quantitative research methodology was employed using a survey design. The sample consisted of 400 individuals, including high school and vocational students, academic advisors, parents, and members of the general public in Roi Et province and nearby areas. A questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale was developed as the main research instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics: frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation to summarize opinions and trends relevant to the program. The results indicated that the respondents exhibited a high level of interest in enrolling in the Bachelor of Laws program. The key motivating factors included perceived career opportunities, interest in legal studies, and confidence in the quality of the curriculum. Respondents suggested that the program should offer flexible class schedules, such as weekend or evening sessions, and incorporate practical learning activities, including internships and mock trials. Recommendations also included providing scholarships and enhancing public relations through online platforms. The findings highlight the need to develop a legal education program that is accessible to both monastic and laypersons, grounded in moral and ethical principles alongside legal foundations. Such a curriculum would address the evolving needs of Thai society and contribute to strengthening civic engagement and justice at the local level.
