Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the level of political communication of local politicians to the public, 2) compare the political communication of local politicians to the public, and 3) present the application of Buddhist principles to promote political communication of local politicians to the public in Tambon Thap Phai Wan, Amphoe Erawan, Loei Province. This research has a reliability of 0.757. The statistics used to analyze the data are frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The hypothesis is tested by t-test and F-test. The qualitative research interviewed 9 key informants. It found that 1. The level of political communication of local politicians to the public is at a high level overall. When classified by each aspect, it is at a high level in all aspects, ranked from highest to lowest as follows: expectation to participate in politics, sending political messages according to the principles of social object, political message recipients, political communication channels, and political message usage.       2. Comparison of political communication of local politicians to the public. Categorized by personal factors, people with different genders, ages, education, incomes, and work experiences had opinions on the political communication of local politicians towards the public with no statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level. Therefore, the research hypothesis was rejected. 3. The presentation of the application of Buddhist principles to promote political communication of local politicians towards the public is that communication must be in the area of mental development, honesty and fairness in sending political messages, sharing knowledge from political messages with others honestly, receiving political messages without taking advantage of others, and viewing political activities as daily routines.
