GUIDELINES FOR THE TEACHING OF THAI LANGUAGE IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Abstract
The objective of this article is to present the concept and approach of the teaching of Thai language in the 21st century to bringing the competencies that are important in enhancing 3R 7C skills for learners. In particular, the core competencies are compiled and categorized into four important competencies (Four Cs) to using competencies for designing students' learning experiences. Thai language instruction based on competency-based learning will enhance students' readiness to face the challenges of a new era. The four core competencies are 1) critical thinking and problem solving, 2) communication, 3) collaboration and 4) creativity and innovation. Thai teachers can design many learning activities that relate to these competencies in order to improve student's cognitive and life skills.
