THE APPLICATION OF THE 4 IDDHIPADA TO IMPROVE LEARNING QUALITY OF STUDENTS AT BAN KHAM KLING SECONDARY SCHOOL, BAN CHAN SUBDISTRICT, MUANG DISTRICT, UDON THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This study aims to study the concept of the Fourfold Paths of Accomplishment or Iddhipāda 4 in Theravāda Buddhist scriptures, examine the current situation of student learning at Ban Kham Kling Secondary School, and propose an application of the Iddhipāda 4 principle. The data of this study was gathered through documentary analysis and in-depth interviews, using a qualitative research methodology The result indicated that there are four important elements to the Iddhipāda 4, consisting of 1. Chanda: dedication, is the satisfaction of doing the mission and the desire to do it better, which is the first factor that makes the mission easier to accomplish; 2. Viriya: endurance and effort, means success in continuous action; 3. Citta: consciousness or dedication, means paying attention to activities; and 4. Vīmamsā is an examination or investigation through intelligence-based self- examination. Iddhipāda 4's principles for applying to education imply that students should start by learning what they are passionate about and possess the desire to learn to become successful, must focus on dedication, and continually review and improve their performance. However, there are insert activities to enable students to realize the benefits and values of the Iddhipāda 4 in various ways until a positive transformation in mindset and behavior occurs. Therefore, it can be regarded as self-development by applying the Iddhipāda 4 and integrating it into education to achieve true success.
