Buddhist Aesthetics

Abstract
The article titled “Buddhist Aesthetics?” translated into Thai as The title of the article with a question mark indicates the purpose of finding the answer. There is an introduction to the origin of the question and then an explanation of each part from the perspective of Buddhist art that was created to be a medium for Buddhism, a total of 7 parts. Starting with the fact that the Buddha often taught about the dangers of sensual pleasures, which is a very influential concept in Buddhism while aesthetics is about beauty, so how can beauty not be related to sensual pleasures? In the Tripitaka it is mentioned that the beauty of nature is associated with peace. As for human creative work, utility and worthiness are the primary considerations, beauty is a secondary concern. However, when creating works related to the Buddha, the creator will do the best. The value of Buddhist art therefore comes from the inspiration or intention to create sacred objects with delicacy as a merit to worship or praise the Lord Buddha. Professor Gombrich has concludes at the end of Part 7 and answers the question posed, which is to reject Buddhist aesthetics by proposing that it is a view or perspective on Buddhist art that is created to convey Buddhist messages or messages but Professor Gombrich presented the data along with an analysis of the concepts and principles, Links related dharma, reflecting the Buddhist perspective on aesthetics or beauty, expands on examples from the past to the present, and asks questions and answers them to the point. Therefore, it is considered a valuable academic article worth studying and learning about.
