EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROGRAM TO PROMOTE PREVENTION OF COVID-19 INFECTION AMONG THE ELDERLY IN CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract
The elderly is a high-risk population that is likely to become infected with the COVID-19 virus. Preventing yourself from contracting the COVID-19 virus for the elderly, it is therefore extremely important. This study was quasi experimental research with a two-group pre/post-experimental method. The objective is to compare knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and level of immunity to prevent COVID-19 infection. Between the experimental group and the control group Before and after joining the program. The sample group consisted of 240 elderly people living in Chaiyaphum Province, divided into an experimental group of 120 people and a control group of 120 people. They were drawn through simple random sampling. The research instruments consisted of 1) the program to promote prevention of COVID-19 infection among the elderly, which has been checked for content validity by 3 experts and has a content validity index ranging from. 60. 2) Questionnaire about knowledge, attitude, and behavior to prevention of COVID-19 Infection, which has a reliability value for the entire questionnaire equal to .86. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t test, and McNemar test for significance of change. The results showed that, after participating in the program, the experimental group had a mean score for knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding prevention of COVID-19 infection. After the experiment, it was significantly higher than the control group. and the experimental group had immunity to prevent infection with the COVID-19 virus. Increased significantly more than before the experiment. As for the control group, there was no difference between before the experiment and after the experiment. Therefore, this study can be applied in society or community for reduce the chance of infection with the COVID-19 virus of the elderly.
