A STUDY ON THE NEEDS OF ETHNIC MINORITY PREPARATORY STUDENTS AT BAISE UNIVERSITY

This study used an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design to explore ethnic minority preparatory students’ needs at Baise University, analyze gaps in the university’s management system, and propose optimization recommendations. A questionnaire survey of 342 students and in-depth interviews with 16 were conducted. Results showed students strongly need personalized academic support, professional psychological counseling, and systematic developmental guidance; existing systems have issues like insufficient transparency and weak participation. Structural, policy, and resource gaps in the management system were identified. Six recommendations were put forward to build a "culturally responsive and developmentally supportive" educational management system, providing references for transforming preparatory education from "management-oriented" to "development-oriented."
