Abstract

Political communication among Thai citizens in the digital era plays a crucial role in strengthening democracy and enhancing political participation. Digital technology and social media have transformed communication patterns from one-way information transmission to interactive, two-way exchanges, allowing citizens to become both recipients and producers of political content. Such roles enable greater state accountability, social advocacy, and the creation of new public spheres that encourage youth and broader citizen engagement. However, digital political communication also faces challenges, including the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and distorted narratives, which may lead to societal conflicts. This article highlights the importance of developing digital media literacy and promoting constructive use of technology to ensure that political communication among Thai citizens in the digital age can effectively foster participation and contribute to sustainable democratic development.
