The People’s Opinions on Local Development Policies Selaphum Subdistrict Municipality, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province

Abstract

The objectives of this thesis research were: 1) to study public opinions toward local development policies of Selaphum Subdistrict Municipality, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province. 2) to compare public opinions classified by gender, age, educational level, and occupation. 3) to examine public suggestions regarding local development policies. The sample consisted of 387 residents aged 18 years and over living within Selaphum Subdistrict Municipality. The research instruments included a five-point Likert scale questionnaire and an interview form. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (One-way ANOVA), and descriptive analysis. The results found that: 1) The research findings revealed that the overall level of public opinions toward local development policies was at a high level. Among the dimensions, infrastructure development had the highest mean score, while quality of life and social aspects had the lowest mean score. 2) The comparison of public opinions classified by personal factors showed no statistically significant differences. 3) Public suggestions reflected comprehensive demands for local development in various dimensions, including infrastructure, quality of life, education and culture, environment, administration and management, and the economy, with an emphasis on public participation and community sustainability.
