This research aims to 1) study the theoretical concepts of promoting folk music in Roi Et province, 2) study the principles of Buddhist aesthetics, and 3) analyze the models of promoting folk music according to Buddhist aesthetics in Roi Et province. This is qualitative research using in-depth interviews with a target group of 20 individuals. Data analysis was conducted descriptively.
The research findings revealed:
- The theoretical concepts of promoting folk music in Roi Et province can be integrated with the theory of cultural capital and should be promoted with the concepts of preserving the spirit, blending with the modern era, and creating sustainable value. This emphasizes maintaining the intellectual identity linked to Buddhist aesthetics and community lifestyles, while adapting presentation styles to modern times to attract younger generations and push folk music to become a tangible cultural asset that creates jobs and dignity for the local community.
- The principles of Buddhist aesthetics involve maintaining a balance between tangible entertainment and spiritual tranquility. This is divided into two levels: worldly beauty, which is beauty perceived through sight and sound and serves as the first gateway to folk music; the promotion model emphasizes the refinement of form and sound; and transcendental beauty, which transcends mere enjoyment and leads to peace, mindfulness, and wisdom. The promotion model emphasizes using music as a tool for this. "Refining the Mind
- Analyzing the models of promoting folk music according to Buddhist aesthetics in Roi Et Province: There are three main forms of Buddhist aesthetics in folk music that should be promoted: beauty in morality (promoting ethics and local traditions), beauty in meditation (the process of training and performance that creates focus and stillness in both players and listeners), and beauty in wisdom (using music to reflect the truths of life and letting go). These three aspects will transform music from mere entertainment into a complete tool for refining the mind."
