The Influence of Growth Mindset on Grit among Undergraduate Business Management Students at Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research article aimed to examine the levels of growth mindset and grit among undergraduate students majoring in Business Administration at Chaiyaphum Rajabhat University, and to investigate the influence of growth mindset on grit among these students. A sample of 291 students was selected using a stratified random sampling technique based on their year of study. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean) and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that the students' growth mindset across all dimensions was at a low level, with mean scores ranging from 1.67 to 2.32. The lowest-scoring dimensions were "seeing mistakes as opportunities" and "belief in the potential for growth." The highest-scoring dimensions were "embracing challenges" and "belief in effort." Similarly, the students' overall grit level was low, with a combined mean of 1.89. Multiple regression analysis confirmed that growth mindset has a statistically significant positive influence on grit (p < .05), explaining 57.5% of the variance in grit (Adjusted R-Square = 0.575). The strongest predictor was "belief in effort" (Beta = 0.267), followed by "embracing challenges" (Beta = 0.243), "belief in the potential for growth" (Beta = 0.227), and "persistence in the face of setbacks" (Beta = 0.166). This study clearly indicates that a higher level of growth mindset leads to a higher level of grit. The findings contribute significantly to the body of knowledge by filling a research gap on the relationship between growth mindset and grit within the specific context of Thai students, particularly by examining the influence of individual components of growth mindset. Furthermore, the empirical evidence from this study provides a valuable basis for educational institutions to develop interventions and policies aimed at fostering these crucial attributes, which are essential for preparing students for the future workforce and entrepreneurship.
