Essential Needs of Soft Skills as Perceived by Teachers Toward School Administrators under the Phichit Primary Educational Service Area Office 2

Abstract
This research article aims to study the essential needs regarding core competencies of school administrators under the jurisdiction of the Phichit Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The sample group consisted of 285 teachers and educational personnel under this office for the academic year 2024. The sample was obtained through stratified random sampling proportional to the number of teachers in each of the six districts.The research instrument used was a paired-response questionnaire comprising 45 items across 7 competency areas. The content validity ranged from 0.67 to 1.0, and the reliability was 0.957. The data were analyzed using basic statistics—mean, standard deviation—and the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified) to rank the essential needs. The research findings revealed that the overall need for development of core competencies among school administrators showed a PNImodified index of 0.24, indicating an urgent need for improvement. When considering each competency area individually, the priority ranking of needs is as follows Creative Communication (PNImodified = 0.24) Teamwork (PNImodified = 0.13) Critical Thinking (PNImodified = 0.20) Leadership (PNImodified = 0.41) Problem Solving (PNImodified = 0.32) Professionalism and Ethics (PNImodified = 0.32) Time Management (PNImodified = 0.47)
