The appropriateness of the use of social media by monks and novices that affects the faith of Buddhists.

Abstract

         This academic article aims to study the appropriateness of the use of social media by monks and novices that affects the faith of Buddhists. The result of the study found that currently, social media plays a role in the lives of everyone. Monks who are known as monks and novices in Buddhism must be very careful in using information technology or social media. In deciding whether it is appropriate or inappropriate, it should be based on the appropriateness of the Four Great Country Principles, which are considered to be a deciding factor in the study of the Dharma and Vinaya for monks and novices, consisting of: Item 1: anything that is not prohibited as inappropriate but is in line with what is inappropriate and conflicts with what is appropriate, that is inappropriate. Item 2: anything that is not prohibited as inappropriate but is in line with what is appropriate, conflicts with what is appropriate, that is appropriate. Item 3: anything that is not permitted as inappropriate but is in line with what is inappropriate and conflicts with what is appropriate, that is inappropriate. Item 4: anything that is not permitted as inappropriate, but it is in accordance with what should be, but contradicts what should not be, that is what should be.
