Public and private sector cooperation strategy for developing welfare for the elderly in Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom Province

          This research has three objectives: (1) to study the welfare situation of the elderly in Sam Phran District; (2) to identify problems in the welfare of the elderly in Sam Phran District; and (3) to propose a cooperation strategy to sustainably improve the quality of life of the elderly. This research is qualitative research. 22 informants were used to collect data through in-depth interviews, and the data was analyzed using content analysis. The research found that: (1) the welfare situation and problems of the elderly at the local level are comprehensive in terms of economics, health, and social aspects, including the payment of stipends according to entitlements, preventive and rehabilitative health promotion, social activities to strengthen community relationships, and the promotion of occupations to increase income and self-worth of the elderly; (2) the welfare of the elderly in Sam Phran District consists of a scattered service system and lacks data integration between agencies, lacks a database linking health dimensions, and lacks a social support network; and (3) the proposed cooperation strategy between the public and private sectors to develop the welfare of the elderly in Sam Phran District consists of: (a) developing an integrated healthcare system; (b) strengthening economic security by promoting suitable occupations; (c) developing an elderly-friendly environment; (d) promoting social and mental well-being; and (e) developing a sustainable cooperation mechanism.
