บทความฉบับนี้นำเสนอประเด็นปัญหาทางญาณวิทยาเชิงสังคม เกี่ยวกับความไว้วางใจต่อข้อมูลจากสื่อสังคมออนไลน์มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการพิจารณาความไว้วางใจต่อข้อมูลจากสื่อสังคมออนไลน์ โดยอาศัยแนวคิดความเชื่อมั่นต่อคำบอกเล่าของประจักษ์พยานที่สามารถยืนยันข้อมูลทางญาณวิทยาได้แต่ไม่เพียงพอ พบว่า ความไว้วางใจต่อข้อมูลมี 2 ประเภทคือ (1) ความไว้วางใจทางญาณวิทยา (2) ความไว้วางใจทางสังคม ซึ่งมีความสัมพันธ์กันแบบผลกระทบสืบเนื่อง มีผลต่อความไว้วางใจทางญาณวิทยาของบุคคล การประเมินความไว้วางใจต่อข้อมูลทางญาณวิทยาเชิงสังคมจำเป็นต้องอาศัยความไว้วางใจทางสังคมที่เป็นความไว้วางใจอย่างมีจริยธรรม และการประเมินความไว้วางใจของข้อมูลมี 2 ประเด็น (1)ในฐานะของผู้รับข้อมูล (2) ในฐานะของผู้เผยแพร่ข้อมูล และการประเมินความไว้วางใจของข้อมูลตามแนวทางของญาณวิทยาทางสังคม จะต้องให้ความสำคัญกับบรรทัดฐานและความเชื่อในสังคมอย่างรอบคอบเพื่อประเมินความไว้วางใจต่อข้อมูล
