Guidelines for Organizing Public Mindfulness Activities Based on Buddhadhamma for High School Students Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province

The research aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) To study the current state of public mindfulness activities organized for students, 2) To investigate the methods used in organizing public mindfulness activities based on Buddhadhamma for students, and 3) To propose guidelines for organizing public mindfulness activities based on Buddhadhamma for students. The research design adopts a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The research tools used include questionnaires administered to a sample of 302 students and interviews conducted with 5 qualified individuals. Statistical analyses, such as mean, standard deviation, and content analysis, were employed to analyze the data.
The research findings revealed that:
1) The current state of organizing public mindfulness activities for students shows that overall, the activities are at a high level in all three aspects, as follows: (1) Individual Mindfulness: Students demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility towards their assigned tasks and exhibit appropriate behavior, (2) Mindfulness towards Others: They utilize resources efficiently and participate in conservation activities, and (3) Mindfulness towards Society: Students respect communal property rights and assist with family duties.
2) Methods for promoting public mindfulness among students based on Buddhadhamma involve cultivating this awareness from a young age, starting with the involvement of family members, teachers, and individuals in their surroundings. The goal is to instill a strong sense of responsibility for their actions, nurturing good relationships with peers in the school environment, and encouraging mutual support and cooperation to do good deeds. Emphasizing self-discipline, using polite language, being supportive, and practicing generosity are also key aspects. Furthermore, these activities aim to raise awareness of the Buddhadhamma through these teachings, students become aware of their role in contributing to a democratic society and understanding the boundaries of individual freedoms as responsible citizens of their country.
3) Guidelines for promoting public mindfulness based on Buddhadhamma among students: organize classroom cleaning day, engage in cultural conservation activities with school clubs, sharing and donation activities, encourage family involvement, activities focusing on democratic understanding, skills development opportunities, and public mindfulness seminars and Dhamma courses to enhance understanding and apply it in daily life, in line with the new knowledge gained from the research, the MYS Model stands for My-You-Social, which represents the concept of public mindfulness or social consciousness. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of individuals with themselves (My), others (You), and society (Social).
