Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) examine the level of students’ expectations toward their digital competencies, (2) investigate the level of students’ satisfaction with their digital competencies, and (3) compare students’ expectations and satisfaction overall and classified by gender, age, and grade level. The sample consisted of 328 students at Chonkanyanukoon School under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Chonburi-Rayong during the 2024 academic year. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.957. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics, including the t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
The findings revealed that: (1) the overall level of students’ expectations toward digital competencies was high; the safety dimension yielded the highest mean score, followed by communication and collaboration, while problem-solving scored the lowest. (2) The overall level of students’ satisfaction was also high, with safety scoring the highest, followed by communication and collaboration, and digital content creation scoring the lowest. (3) The comparative analysis indicated that students’ satisfaction was higher than their expectations across all dimensions. Furthermore, no statistically significant differences in expectations and satisfaction were found overall or when classified by gender, age, and grade level. These results reflect the high effectiveness of digital learning management and support systems at Chonkanyanukoon School in meeting learners' needs, while demonstrating equitable digital access across all student groups. However, digital content creation remains an area requiring further development. This insight provides valuable data for curriculum planning to align students’ digital competencies with the demands of the digital era and human resource development in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
