Abstract

This academic article explores the relationship between alcohol consumption and road traffic accidents in Thailand by analyzing statistical data on alcohol-related accidents, drinking behaviors among Thai people, and the associated economic, social, and health impacts. The findings clearly indicate that alcohol consumption is a major contributing factor to road accidents in Thailand, particularly during major national festivals, resulting in substantial losses of life and property. Social and cultural factors also play a significant role in shaping drinking behaviors among Thai people. Although the government has implemented various measures and policies to control alcohol consumption, the problem has not yet been resolved as effectively as intended. Therefore, this article proposes a comprehensive approach that includes stricter law enforcement, raising public awareness, encouraging community participation, and utilizing technology to help prevent road accidents. The study also highlights several important perspectives, such as the relationship between drinking culture and road accidents, the concept of behavioral change through community engagement, and the development of alcohol-free community models. These approaches can contribute to fostering a sustainable culture of road safety in society.
