APPLICATION OF LAY DHARMA PRINCIPLES TO PROMOTE LEADERSHIP OF POLITICIANS IN LAT LUM KAEO DISTRICT, PATHUM THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to 1) Study the leadership of politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province.  2) Study the relationship between secular principles and the leadership of politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province.  3) Apply secular principles to promote the leadership of politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province. The research employs a mixed-methods approach. The quantitative research uses a questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The sample group consists of citizens aged 18 years and older in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province, totaling 395 people. The statistical methods used for data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Hypothesis testing is conducted using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The qualitative research employs in-depth interviews with 9 key informants and analyzes the data through descriptive content analysis.

            The results of the research found that 1) The level of leadership among politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province, is generally at a high level. When categorized by aspect, the area with the highest average is the aspect of having ideological influence, followed by the aspect of inspiring others, while the aspect with the lowest average is the consideration of individual differences. 2) The relationship between secular principles and the leadership of politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province, shows that the four secular principles and the leadership of politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District have a strong positive correlation (R=0.851**) that is statistically significant at the 0.01 level. Therefore, the research hypothesis is accepted. 3) The application of secular principles to promote the leadership of politicians in Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province, according to the four secular principles, includes: 1) Truthfulness - being honest in the duties assigned; 2) Temperance - using wisdom to solve problems peacefully, without resorting to emotions and violence; 3) Patience - enduring difficulties and being committed to performing tasks to the best of one's ability; 4) Generosity - being self-sacrificing, providing assistance, and consistently contributing to the common good.
