The Survey of Housing Needs of Informal Sector Workers in Tourism City: Pattaya City

Abstract

In the directive framework of the National Economic and Social Development Plan No. 12 (2017-2021), we prioritize developing opportunities and social equity in terms of society. Because inequity persists in many aspects of Thailand. Furthermore, housing is regarded as an essential aspect of survival. As a result, this survey aims to know the housing needs of Pattaya City's informal sector workers. Furthermore, important aspects are considered while determining where to live. According to the findings of this survey, 85.80 percent of informal laborers relocated from neighboring regions. The majority of them were retailers. In terms of the housing demands of informal workers in Pattaya, it was discovered that there are three sorts of housing expectations among informal workers in Pattaya: 1) Purchasing self-owned housing, 2) Renting the residence to improve living circumstances, and 3) Purchasing or renting land to construct a self-owned residence. The safety of life and property is a consideration that influences the choice of residence selection. The survey results can be used as part of housing construction that is compatible with and capable of satisfying the needs of informal workers.
