Abstract

This academic article, titled "Social Studies Pedagogy According to Buddhist Approaches," aims to explain the concepts, principles, and guidelines for managing social studies learning that integrates Buddhist doctrines with social science content. The objective is to develop learners holistically in terms of knowledge, skills, morality, and wisdom. The content highlights the importance of social studies in cultivating quality citizens and underscores the necessity of ethical learning management in addressing contemporary social issues.

The article proposes a pedagogical framework based on the Threefold Training (Tisikkha) - comprising Morality (Sila), Concentration (Samadhi), and Wisdom (Panna) - in conjunction with the application of the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path as foundations for systematic thinking, analysis, and problem-solving. This student-centered approach promotes self-directed learning, active practice, and meaningful learning through diverse activities.

The analysis indicates that such an approach helps develop learners to be both capable and virtuous individuals, possessed of reason, morality, and public consciousness, enabling them to coexist with others in society peacefully and sustainably.
