Abstract

This academic article aims to study the role of local management policies in the era of globalization, especially in the context of smart city development in Thailand. The analysis of policies on the role of globalization affects changes in governance, management and urban development in various dimensions, such as economy, society and environment. It was found that globalization has significantly impacted the development of smart cities in Thailand, bringing both opportunities and challenges for Thailand to access technologies, create new innovations and promote foreign investment by creating international cooperation networks, which are important factors in driving smart city development. Globalization also impacts local management in many dimensions, including opportunities to access technologies and resources, and challenges in adapting to changes. The Smart City concept in Thailand has the potential to drive sustainable urban development, but still faces obstacles in many dimensions, such as lack of resources, lack of cooperation between sectors and lack of public participation. Therefore, the concept of developing local management policies to become smart cities is proposed, emphasizing the integration of modern technologies and promoting public participation, strengthening local administrative organizations to reduce economic and social inequality, reduce the loss of cultural identity and environmental problems.
