DEVELOPMENT OF A THAI DIGITAL IDENTITY (THAID)-BASED NEW PATIENT REGISTRATION SYSTEM AT SONGKLANAGARIND HOSPITAL
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research and development study aimed to: (1) develop a Thai Digital Identity (ThaiD)-based new patient registration system for Songklanagarind Hospital, (2) evaluate the performance of the developed system, and (3) investigate user satisfaction with the system. The system was developed following the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), comprising six phases: requirements analysis, system design, system development, system testing, pilot implementation and refinement, and full deployment. The developed web application allows patients to access the registration service by scanning a QR Code and uses the Thai Digital Identity (ThaiD) platform for identity verification and the integration of patient demographic information into the hospital medical record system through an Application Programming Interface (API).
The sample consisted of 67 patients who used the system and voluntarily participated in the study. Purposive sampling was employed. The research instruments included the ThaiD-based new patient registration system and a 14-item questionnaire assessing system performance and user satisfaction. The questionnaire was evaluated for content validity by three experts and had a reliability coefficient greater than 0.80. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation.
The results indicated that the overall evaluation of the system was at the highest level (x̄ = 4.79, S.D. = 0.42). Among the six evaluation dimensions, system usefulness received the highest mean score (x̄ = 4.83, S.D. = 0.38), followed by overall user satisfaction (x̄ = 4.82, S.D. = 0.39), information quality (x̄ = 4.81, S.D. = 0.39), usability and interface design (x̄ = 4.80, S.D. = 0.43), service and support quality (x̄ = 4.78, S.D. = 0.45), and system performance (x̄ = 4.76, S.D. = 0.45), respectively. The findings reflect users’ perceptions that the system reduced the steps and time required for new patient registration, improved the accuracy and completeness of patient information, and facilitated access to medical record services. The system is therefore suitable for supporting medical record services and may serve as a model for future digital health service development in other healthcare organizations.
