Abstract

The purpose of this study were 1) to compare the English listening skills of Grade 7 students before and after receiving active learning combined with electronic storybooks. 2) to study the students’ satisfaction after receiving active learning combined with electronic storybooks. The research employed a mixed-methods design, specifically an embedded design, and used a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design. The sample consisted of 34 Grade 7 students. Research instruments included 12 active learning lesson plans with electronic storybooks, an English listening skills test, and a student satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and paired-sample t-test.

The students’ English listening skills after receiving active learning combined with electronic storybooks were significantly higher than before. Moreover, students’ overall satisfaction with this learning approach was at a high level.
