Abstract

This research aims to 1) design and develop an online new-patient registration card system for Songklanagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University; 2) evaluate the efficiency of the online new-patient registration card system; and 3) assess the satisfaction of the Faculty of Medicine's personnel with the system. The study employed a research and development methodology. The sample consisted of 21 staff members working in the medical records (patient card) unit of Songklanagarind Hospital. The research instrument was a 15-item questionnaire, the content validity of which was verified by three experts, yielding an Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) index of 1.00 for all items and a reliability coefficient (Cronbach's Alpha) of 0.93. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, namely mean and standard deviation.

The findings revealed that the online new-patient registration card system enhanced security through SMS-OTP identity verification, reduced redundant data-verification steps, replaced paper-based forms with electronic document attachment, and shortened the processing-notification time. The overall satisfaction of the Faculty of Medicine's personnel was at the highest level ( = 4.54, S.D. = 0.59). The highest mean score was found in the dimension of system implementation in work ( = 4.63), followed by system efficiency ( = 4.61) and user-interface design ( = 4.59). The dimensions of overall satisfaction ( = 4.38) and support and problem-solving ( = 4.21) received lower mean scores than the other dimensions but remained at a very good level.

The results of this study reflect that the online new-patient registration card system helps reduce operational time, decrease the use of paper-based forms, and improve the accuracy of data verification in the new-patient registration process. Accordingly, additional user-support channels should be developed, such as an error-notification system and help/support channels, as well as future integration with the ThaID e-KYC identity-verification system.
