Abstract
This research aimed to 1. synthesize the conditions of rehabilitation activities for children with disabilities at Nakhonsawan Panyanukul School,
2. propose guidelines for organizing rehabilitation activities based on the Seven Principles of Kalyāṇamitta Dhamma. This study employed a qualitative research methodology. Data were collected from 20 key informants, including one school director, four deputy directors, and fifteen teachers. The research instrument was a semi-structured interview, and the data were analyzed using descriptive content analysis.
The findings revealed that
- The synthesis of rehabilitation activity conditions for children with disabilities. During the academic years 2022–2024, the implementation demonstrated continuous improvement from a “very good” to an “excellent” level. The school adopted the NWP Model (PDCA+A quality cycle) as its management framework. The rehabilitation activities covered four main dimensions: emotional and social development, physical and motor development, intellectual and creative development, and communication and behavioral development. However, certain challenges were identified, including the diversity of disability types, differences in students’ abilities, physical mobility limitations, and insufficient variety in developmental assessment methods.
- Guidelines for organizing activities based on the Seven Principles of Kalyāṇamitta Dhamma. The researcher integrated these principles into six stages of the rehabilitation process as follows 1) Screening: Applying Piyo (lovability) to create a friendly and warm environment that fosters trust among children. 2) Service Planning: Applying Garu (respectability), where teachers demonstrate professional expertise in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on academic principles. 3) Service Delivery: Applying Vattā (good communication) and Vacanakkhama (patience in listening and speaking appropriately), ensuring suitable communication and tolerance toward children's limitations. 4) Review and Adjustment: Applying Bhāvanīyo (worthiness of cultivation), promoting the development of innovations and technologies to inspire learners. 5) Termination: Applying No caṭṭhāne niyojaye (not leading others inappropriately), emphasizing professional ethics and child safety. 6) Referral: Applying Gambhīrañca kathaṃ kattā (ability to explain profound matters clearly), ensuring that complex information is communicated in an understandable way to parents and specialists.
