THE PROMOTION OF YOUTH CITIZENSHIP ACCORDING TOBUDDHIST PRINCIPLES AT CHINOROS WITTAYALAI SCHOOL, BANGKOK

Abstract

This  research  aimed  to: 1) to examine the current conditions of promoting youth citizenship at Chinoros Wittayalai School, Bangkok; 2) to investigate the integration of Buddhist principles in promoting youth citizenship; and 3) to propose systematic and sustainable guidelines for enhancing youth citizenship according to Buddhist principles.Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 25 key informants, including school administrators, teachers, and upper secondary school students. The data were analyzed using content analysis and triangulation techniques to ensure credibility and validity.

The results of research were found that:

          1) Regarding the status of civic promotion: Chinorot Wittayalai School has systematically implemented civic promotion for youth, covering school policy levels, learning activity management, and the continuous promotion of daily practices. 2) Regarding the integration of Buddhist principles: The integration process is conducted through a three-dimensional framework consisting of the civic dimension, the Buddhist Dhamma dimension, and the participatory learning process dimension. This integration positively impacts the development of students' discipline, responsibility, public mind, and ethical analytical thinking skills. 3) Regarding the guidelines for sustainable Buddhist-based civic promotion: It is recommended to establish long-term strategies with clear civic indicators, enhance teachers' potential in moral-based learning management, and design civic skill development pathways tailored to different age groups to ensure concrete and sustainable evaluation.
