AN ASSESSMENT OF HAPPINESS AND WELL-BEING LEVELS OF RESIDENTS IN NATIONAL HOUSING AUTHORITY COMMUNITIES

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the levels of happiness and well-being among residents across economic, social, and community/environmental dimensions; 2) propose guidelines for developing strong and sustainable communities in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ; and 3) present solutions to obstacles and recommendations for the development of other communities. This study employed a mixed-methods research design. The population and sample consisted of residents in 5,125 Baan Eua-Arthorn condominium units, who provided data via rating-scale questionnaires collected from juristic persons. Descriptive statistics, including mean ($\overline{X}$) and standard deviation (S.D.), were utilized for data analysis. Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with 38 participants, including juristic person managers, community leaders, and residents, using content analysis.

The research findings are as follows

1. The overall level of happiness and well-being of the residents is at a high level. When categorized by dimension, the social dimension ranked highest, followed by the community and environmental dimension, and the economic dimension, respectively.


2. Guidelines for strengthening and sustaining the community in accordance with the SDGs emphasize integrating vocational skills and digital technology to enhance economic competitiveness. This is coupled with establishing proactive healthcare systems and robust safety networks within the social dimension, alongside environmental management through comprehensive waste systems and clean energy under the principles of good governance.


3. Solutions to obstacles and key recommendations comprise 10 essential issues, such as developing a new generation of youth leaders, expanding multilateral cooperation networks, and utilizing digital databases for transparency. These measures aim to ensure developmental continuity and equitably elevate the quality of life for all age groups in the future.
